i don't understand, you guys. if you broke contact for some serious thing, he wouldn't ask anyway. but chances are you guys just drifted apart in life, moved far away, started new school/job whatever. friendships aint for a life time that is for sure, but hearing an old buddy out who needs something wont hurt anybody, and if it is not a big deal, you might as well help him out, if it is just tell him. I let some old friends crash on my couch when they were in town for a few days after we went apart years ago, we even held some little reunion in the evenings, drank and spoke about who does what, it was enjoyable, after those few days all of us went on with out lifes.

well excuse me OP, I get what you mean with "favor shit"; but you need to understand that humans are social creatures, it is quite natural to depend on each other. you do a favor for somebody, you get one in return. that's how things go. it is annoying when people mask it behind friendly conversations, yes, but that just means you shouldn't care about them.
