This isn't edgy, it's American Hollywood overdramatized bullshit. The planet will survive, some animals will adapt, others won't. Our "way of life" will change as it always does. And whose fault is it? Ours. So why the outcry? You have a feeling of losing something? That's your ignorance speaking then. Take food consumption by weight per capita - on average a human requires around 620 to 700 kg of food per year, now apply that by 7.6 billion fuckers and that's roughly 4,712,000,000,000 kgs per year. PER YEAR! Now think about the agricultural space required, the waste derivation, pollution output due to byproducts and packaging, not to mention shipping and logistical requirements that consume fuel and pollute even more. Ya see, the point is we all want to get cozy with the idea that we can somehow fix the problem by only treating the symptoms (e.g "green" initiatives, carbon taxes, sustainability etc.) when the problem is a numbers game. No one wants to tackle the real problem that we need to curb our people making skills before we tackle what we do with our behavior.

It's not really about money. It's about choices we all make with our money. Want to travel the world? The environment would appreciate if you didn't and just stayed home. You've just seen Chernobyl and are really nervous around nuclear power plants? So long as humans need energy, nuclear is the energy source that impacts the environment the least. Want to buy an electric car and be more environmentally friendly? Actually it's more harmful to the environment than if you were to use an efficient petrol engine. You're better off riding a bicycle and live in a city powered by a nuclear power plant. You think because you're recycling plastics that's better? Not if what you bought was colored plastic, because that's not going to be recycled. People have to consume less, which means there will be less jobs, which means that everyone has to be poorer be have less of the many things that they don't need.
